Executive Diagnostic: Are We Aligned With How Decisions Are Actually Made Now?
This diagnostic should be reviewed immediately after Chapter 02—ideally in an exec or leadership setting. It is meant to surface misalignment between how we think discovery works and how it actually works.
Discovery Reality Check
- Can we clearly describe the moment before someone searches for us?
- Where do buyers first encounter ideas, not links?
- Which non-search surfaces influence our category today (AI tools, peers, internal docs, decks)?
Synthesis Awareness
- Do we know which of our ideas survive summarization?
- If our content were reduced to three sentences by an AI, would the framing still be ours?
- Are we producing content that resolves ambiguity—or just contributes information?
Trust Formation
- Why would someone trust our judgment over a generic answer?
- What signals of familiarity do we deliberately reinforce over time?
- Are we consistent enough that our POV feels recognizable?
Decision Compression
- Which steps in our buyer journey no longer require a click?
- What decisions are now made before a long-form evaluation ever happens?
- Where are we still optimizing for reading when synthesis has replaced it?
The Leadership Tell
If discovery still equals “search → click → read” in our planning conversations,
we are optimizing for a journey buyers no longer take.
This diagnostic isn’t about traffic.
It’s about whether we are present at the moment judgment forms.
